KAMANGA MEDICS HOSPITAL (KMH) – HOSPITAL’S PROFILE

A. Introduction&justification
KMH is a proprietor of Kamanga Medics Company Limited that was founded in July, 2013 as a company that deals with all medical services including provision of health care facility and its related businesses. The founding clinicians are:
1. Dr Anthony Massinde (obstetric & gynaecologist) BMC, senior lecturer CUHAS
2. Dr Rodrick Kabangira (physician) BMC, senior lecturer CUHAS
3. Dr Isidor Ngayomela (consultant orthopedic & trauma surgeon) BMC, Lecturer
CUHAS.
It had started as a clinic in May 2013, mainly doing specialized consultations in outpatient bases.
All the above clinicians are working at Bugando Medical Centre, teaching at Christian University College of Allied Sciences, performing outreach services around Lake Zone region under AMREF organization as well as working in most private hospitals in Mwanza town in the past.
The demand for health related matter have drastically increased, with overwhelming numbers of patients attending to BMC such that clinicians could not find space to attending them as required and at the highest quality needed. Lake Zone region has a catchment area of over 16 million people which is almost a third of the Tanzanians population. In addition, private health care facilities in Mwanza have not been able to support the required services in terms of quality, variability and affordability. KMH saw an opportunity to expand itself from a “clinic” to a hospital from its former Isamilo Specialist Clinic, with a core mission into establishing a hospital that provides the
highest quality health care from reputable Health Care workers and to taking care not only of the wealthy individuals but a proportion of the poor. About 30 percent of our patients will be attended at a costs of treatment that one will be able to afford. KMH has acquired a new building in a Nyegezi area (100 metres from Nyegezi bus stop), about 10 kilometers from Mwanza town, an area that has never had a health facility despite being the entry point to Mwanza where most referrals of patients would enter through from other regions except those from North Eastern lake region of Mara. It is one of the best equipped patients’ treatment equipment and equipment for patients care.
The hospital has officially been upgraded and registered by MoHSW on Wednesday December 31st, 2014 with a registration number 19325.
