SASO exists to enhance civil aviation safety for SADC Member States

SADC Aviation Safety Organisation is established to exist as a Subsidiarity Organisation within SADC and shall be a legal entity operating within Swazilabd.
This Organisation’s mandate is to enhance the safety of civil aviation by complementing, to the extent required, the certification and oversight capabilities of SADC Member States.
SASO will assist Member States having difficulty:
1. Meeting their certification and safety oversight obligations and responsibilities under the Convention on International Civil Aviation and its safety related Annexes and Documents, closing out ICAO audit findings including significant safety concerns (SSCs);
2. Implementing industry best practices in the areas of certification, surveillance and resolution of safety concerns;
3. In promoting the safe and efficient use and development of civil aviation in the SADC Region, and
4. Conducting aircraft accident and incident investigations in accordance with international standards.
