International Draughts Federation IDF

Draughts on the classic 64-square board (in the official classification - draughts-64) are popular and widely distributed around the World. Draughts develop intellectual abilities, which is especially important in the education of young people and diverting it to drugs, alcohol, etc. Development and promoting of draughts on the 64-square board in the World engaged the International Draughts Federation (IDF), which was established in 2012 and is the successor and continuer of the Section-64 of the World Draughts Federation FMJD.
Over the past three years, the situation in draughts-64 has changed essentially. The level of competitions, the material and technical base, the prize money has increased significantly and reached a qualitatively new level.
The International Draughts Federation united under its aegis different types of draughts on a 64-square board (Russian, Brazilian, Italian, Czech, Portuguese, Pool checkers), some of which have not been previously covered by international organizations. This attracted into the organization new countries developing various types of draughts.
At this moment 49 national federations are members of the International Draughts Federation; in addition IDF maintains regular contacts to more than 20 other countries.
Annual IDF calendar includes more than 20 major events.
The International Draughts Federation holds world championships among men and women; boys and girls; seniors; team championships. All competitions are held on three programs: classical, rapid and blitz.
World Championships among men and women are held in odd-numbered years. In 2015, the Championship at a high level was held in St. Petersburg. The competitions was attended by representatives of 43 countries, the prize fund reached of 60 000 dollars.
IDF holds annual World Cup in draughts-64 consisting of the 6-8 stages, in which players can participate, regardless of gender, age and ranking. Participants can earn points in the World Cup standings in competitions in Brazilian, Italian, Russian, Czech and Portuguese draughts.
Lots of various continental championships and major international tournaments are held under the auspices of the International Draughts Federation. In 2015, in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the 2nd World War, IDF held the international draughts tournament "Cup of Victory", which was attended by representatives of 28 countries.
The International Draughts Federation pays much attention is to children's sport.
World Youth Championships and Continental Youth Championships are held annually separately among boys and girls in six age groups: up to 24 years, 17-19 years, 14-16 years, 11-13 years, 9-10 years, 8 years and under. Winners of the boys and girls in each age group are awarded with official cups, medals and diplomas.
