On 1st February 2013, the Malawi government merged operations of SEDOM, DEMAT and MEDI to form a new organization, SMEDI.
SMEDI stands for Small and Medium Enterprises Development Institute. It is a parastatal organization under the Ministry of Industry and Trade and was registered under the Trustees Incorporation Act (cap 5:3) of the laws of Malawi.
The headquarters of SMEDI is in Lilongwe, Area 4, Amina House, right wing, 1st and 2nd Floors. It has regional offices in Mzuzu, Lilongwe and Blantyre and as of 1 July, 2014, we have established SMEDI Enterprise Development Centre in Mponela (former MEDI Campus)
