The Tavern is a German Pub and Restaurant, which has a long tradition even before the Hotel was called "Aryaduta".
It was one of the first places in Indonesia in fact, which introduced the "Hot Stone", meats served on a sizzling hot stone, German style.
Pak Didi is one of the longest staying Bartenders that the Hotel has and revealed some long lost stories over the pub. If you ask him, he can tell you exciting stories about Jakarta and it´s changes over the past decades.
The mugs that you can find hanging of the top of the bar are from guests who frequented The Tavern in the past, would have their name written on one of those traditional beer mugs and return again to find their mug still waiting for them.
In some cases the mugs in fact have outlived their owners and family members come to The Tavern to be close to their loved ones.
