The Faculty of Law is part of the University of Jember, one of the oldest and most prestigious institutions of higher learning in East Java, Indonesia. The roots of the Faculty of Law lie in the establishment of Faculty of Law and Social Sciences, the University of Tawang Alun in 1957. Following its establishment, UNEJ Faculty of Law has come into exist as the center of legal education of State University since 1964.

Since its inception, UNEJ Faculty of Law has been a home of legal and justice education. It takes the social and intellectual responsibilities of continuing tertiary education in the field of legal education and research. To this end, UNEJ Faculty of Law is committed to generate the professional jurists who protect, promote and reinforce rule of law to meet substantial justice.

UNEJ Faculty of Law is supported by the students admitted rigorously from the country and member faculties with law degrees from home and abroad. In addition, its students have sharply competed amongst the top law schools of the country and gained many national prestigious awards in the fields of research, debate and moot court. Those make UNEJ Faculty of Law is taken account into one of the prestigious law schools in Indonesia.

UNEJ Faculty of Law offers undergraduate, postgraduate and research degrees. Bachelor of Laws (Sarjana Hukum) has been designed to provide students with a sophisticated understanding of core legal concepts, principles, and skills and to fulfill the requirements for admission to legal practice.

Department of Master's Degree in Law offers Master of Notary (Magister Kenotariatan) and Master of Laws (Magister Hukum). Doctor of Philosophy in Law (Dr.) is offered to candidates having Master of Laws Degree to undertake advanced legal research at the Faculty of Law. In addition, UNEJ Faculty of Law also offers Advanced Advocate Legal Education (PKPA) to occupy future advocates, by condition to candidates having Bachelor of Laws Degree.

The challenge for UNEJ Faculty of Law today is to stay ahead in the context of globalization. Therefore, the Faculty in hemisphere of the world has exchange agreements and philanthropists who have supported and established centers and endowed lectures.

UNEJ Faculty of Law vigorously extends international partnerships and exchange programs to bring together the best expertise with many other law schools abroad and has made agreements with law schools from Thailand, Germany, Vietnam and Malaysia. In addition, it conducts summer School held annually with participants from many countries i.e., Brunei, Cambodia, China, Germany, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Amid pursuit of excellence, UNEJ Faculty of Law has attempted varied strategies to create a vibrant academic environment. It continues on what works, evaluate on what does not, and strive to realize the golden vision to be one of the best Southeast Asia's global law school.
