Description

The Manu'a Project:

The Pacific region is often described as being on the frontline of climate change. With islands and atolls dotted across the ocean, they find themselves increasingly exposed and vulnerable to climate change and face the multiple threats of increasing ocean acidity, rising sea levels, and escalating natural disasters.
We firmly believe that a grassroots and social media campaign can be the key to success by putting the power to effect change in “our hands” and no longer relying solely on our leaders and policy makers to effect change alone. With climate change now becoming one of the most important issues facing humanity, we must not wait for a solution but WE MUST BE THE SOLUTION.

The Manu’a Project is the first mission in our global “fight on the frontline” to bring cost effective access to clean electricity, cooking technologies, and transportation needs across the Pacific to our future generations! Helping secure a future for our children, grandchildren, and beyond by reducing carbon emissions, protecting against climate change, and inspiring change across the world.

“The future depends on what we do in the present.”
-Mahatma Gandhi

Currently government and private funding has been raised to take the Manua Islands from 100% diesel power generation to 80% renewable energy generation. The Manu’a Project will be a global crowdfunding campaign to raise awareness, educate, and most importantly raise funds to build the FIRST fossil free islands in the World. This mission will use the funds generated from online campaigns to coordinate with the American Samoa Power Authority (ASPA, local municipal utility), the American Samoa Renewable Energy Council (ASREC), and Fanua Foundation to design and build the remaining infrastructure to take the Manua Islands from 80% renewable generation to 100% renewable energy generation. We will also work with vendors, technology developers, and other industry leaders and professionals to generate hydrogen with excess energy yield, install wind turbines, deploy electric vehicles, convert existing trucks and cars to hydrogen based fuel, convert ovens from liquid propane gas (LPG) to hydrogen tanks. This project will become the blueprint for the Pacific and the rest of the world on how we can create sustainable communities and power grids with today’s modern technology without the dependence on fossil fuels.
